I've known the winners for a while I just didn't have time to post the past week or two with Christmas and band stuff. Were recording our album right now and we had a 2 concerts last week, downtown T.O..

With special thanks to the judges ~Godzilla725 and !GwenavhyeurAnastasia, and everyone who helped out in the background. ^namenotrequired,`cality and ~AshenSoul. Thank you for your time support and energy in creating this without you this would be nothing.

I read through the entries and picked the same 1st place winner as her. As well as an honourable mention to boot which I never gave any prizes to in previous blogs.

So without further ado here goes it.

First place goes to ~genoboost with the entry 'View from a New World'

"This piece has a nice rythym to it and it gives you the feel that the whole poem rhymes because lines 1 & 3 ryhme and so do 14 & 16 which gives it a nice intro outro feel. Along with the use of vivid verbs and adjectives which really make you think of your surroundings while reading it. Such as 'perilous', 'intricate' and 'ignites'. Also it has a smooth opening with the constant alliteration of 's'." ~~Godzilla725

"I enjoyed the images in this piece, especially of "Alien patterns above perilous hills" ~!GwenavhyeurAnastasia

And now for the Honourable Mention, Gwen had picked a second place prize but instead I chose her Honourable Mention as mine as well I thought it had a better message.

Honourable Mention goes to *rainonwednesday with the entry 'The Finest Man'

"I love the change in this from old to new. It perfectly captures the view of my contest new beginnings. It shows the perfect father figure which everybody wishes they had and wanted. I find the perfect father figure a little unrealistic, I am preferencial myself of realism but still the change of the man in her life is clearly shown. And that she fully trusts that man to take care of her. Though the girl in the poem seems to ignore mans flwas and only look on the bright side of things a true optimist one would say." ~ ~Godzilla725

"This piece describes how our views on people can change in a moment. It clearly helped me see the scene of a wedding, even though I've never been to one." ~!GwenavhyeurAnastasia

"This is really sweet, it makes a change from all the angst filled poems on here. I like how the 'finest man' theme is presented and how it shows how love and attitudes change as one grows up." ~ ~Avenvia

Make sure to complain your prizes.

And a reminder of the prizes.

My Christmas was not white
Nor was it a day of sun
The cloud and rain had gained the skies above me
Others complained about what they got
Because they take what they have for granted
And have very little thoughts of others who can't afford as much as them.
Not very many presents did I receive
But I am still happy
Christmas is about gifts
But the gifts and love of family.
The real gift that everyone gets on Christmas
and pays very little attention too.
Once again I'll say
Christmas isn't about the presents we get
Its about our family.
And thats the best gift that anyone can get.

I pour myself a glass of bourbon, I let my hand glide on the paper, pencil in grip.

'I thank you
For answering in
Poem format'

I lift the glass to my dry lips, not a shot but a full glass. It wets my throat and burns slightly on the way down. I think to myself how should I write my feelings about a desolate Christmas story. I switch to pen and ink. Pen gliding gracefully in hand I come up with this masterpiece.

'That seems like a lame,
Christmas; though mine was lame too
Family is broke'

Excellent grammar and punctuation, well no doubt for a learned doctor. A doctor is not selfish what makes me seem unselfish. I place the pen to paper once more, after another swig of bourbon. I straighten my glasses.

'Family came
My nieces and nephews
Were the focus'

Ah perfect I can exclaim, It's not the best of my work but what I can I say 5 minutes and a masterpiece. I finish off the last of the bourbon in my glass. That hit me hard, shouldn't off drank the '69 on an empty stomach.

The mixture of poetry and the prose of my life. I'd like to sleep now. I saunter to bed. Sweet blissful, drunken and encanting dreams.
